Hi and welcome to Stirling Walks.
I’m based in Stirling, Scotland, and I’ve spent years exploring the paths, parks, hills and back roads in and around the city — often as part of everyday life and often with a dog alongside me. I built this site for two reasons: to share the walks I genuinely rate and to learn the full set of skills involved in building, running and improving a real website from end to end.
What you’ll find here
Stirling Walks is a growing library of routes, each documented on its own page with practical details to help you decide if it’s right for you, such as:
- Distance, elevation and estimated time
- Route type (loop/out-and-back/point-to-point)
- Terrain notes (muddy bits, steep sections, gates/stiles, road crossings)
- Accessibility and dog-friendliness where relevant
- Parking and public transport tips
- Maps and GPX routes, plus photos and short videos
My aim is to keep everything clear, honest, and useful — the kind of info you’d want before heading out the door.
How the routes are chosen
The walks here are ones I’ve done myself. Some are classic Stirling landmarks and viewpoints, others are quieter local favourites that are easy to miss unless you know where to look. I’ll always try to highlight the best bits of a route, the things to watch out for, and any seasonal considerations (like muddy fields, flooding or busier sections).
A living project
Routes change. Paths get diverted, parking rules shift, surfaces wear down, and weather can transform a “simple” walk into a muddy slog. I’ll update pages when I can, and I’m gradually expanding the site with more routes, better filters, and improved maps.
If you spot something that’s changed, or you’ve got a suggestion for a great local walk I should try, feel free to get in touch.
Thanks for visiting — and happy walking.
